The actress, alongwith the film’s director and actor Srujan, were on their way to Bheemavaram for a shoot.

In what looks like a repeat of Malayalam actress’ assault and abduction case in February this year, a Telugu actress has alleged that director Chalapathi and actor Srujan tried to rape her in a moving car.

On Tuesday, the actress filed a police complaint at the Patamala police station in Vijayawada accusing the duo of attempted rape, reports Times of India.

In the complaint, the actress alleged that the two took her to Bheemavaram in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on the pretext of a shoot. Enroute, they attempted to rape her.

The actress said that they supposed to reach Bheemavaram by rail on August 13 but the duo insisted that they all travel by road. As they neared Vijayawada, the director and actor started to touch her inappropriately and then assaulted her. They pushed her to the back seat of the car and drove fast so that she couldn’t escape. The report goes on to say that the car collided with a lorry and the actress managed to escape. She immediately sent her location to friends who came to her rescue.

The actress further claimed that the duo told her not to go to police and even attempted to blackmail her. However, when she didn’t budge, they apologised but threatened to ruin her career if she lodged a complaint.

Following her complaint, Chalapathi was arrested. Actor Srujan, howeve, is on the run.

The police have registered a case rash driving and damaging a woman’s vehicle under Section 279 of the IPC, according to reports.
