INDORE: Even as the top brass of the BCCI argued in the Supreme Court over the implementation of the Lodha panel recommendations, a ‘positive’ suggestion of the panel will be a major step towards hosting international games in future. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has reserved two sections each in the stadium for differently-abled fans and women. In its recommendations, the Lodha panel had stated the need to make ‘specific provisions’ to encourage cricket among the two groups. While the BCCI has opposed some of the recommendations, there are many that have been passed, and among them was the need to focus on differently-abled fans and cricketers and engage women in the sport. The MPCA was subsequently notified by the BCCI if an arrangement could be worked out. Ahead of the third Test, the first to be played here, arrangements were made to cull out two exclusive sections for the differently abled, women and children. “It is a noble idea that enables fans to have the joy of watching their favourite cricketers live,” said MPCA president Sanjay Jagdale. “There is obviously a need to engage more women to follow sport.”
