The champions were far less convincing than in their Champions League 5-0 win over Rostov on Tuesday and were caught napping after eight minutes with Paraguayan Dario Lezcano slipping the ball through the legs of Manuel Neuer.

It took four minutes for Bayern to react, with Poland striker Robert Lewandowski chipping the ball beautifully over the Ingolstadt keeper for his fifth league goal after some sloppy defending from the visitors.

Xabi Alonso’s low drive from some 20 metres put Bayern ahead but they were lucky not to concede an equaliser before Rafinha drilled in their third goal from the edge of the box in the 84th.

BACCA WINS ‘BATTLE OF COLOMBIANS’ FOR MILAN

MILAN: AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca came off the bench to win the ‘Battle of the Colombians’ with a late strike in a 1-0 win at Sampdoria on Friday.

Bacca started on the bench amid reports of a midweek spat with Rossoneri coach Vincenzo Montella. But amid the ever-present danger of a Sampdoria goal from friend and compatriot Luis Muriel, Montella introduced the Colombian on the hour -- and Bacca didn’t disappoint.

MILAN: Mauro Icardi’s dream of “winning trophies” with Inter Milan has been dealt a Europa League blow and now faces a Serie A acid test in Sunday’s visit of champions Juventus for the “Derby d’Italia”.
