RIO DE JANEIRO: A third Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova on Sunday made an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against her exclusion from the Rio Olympics, the FINA world body said.
Efimova, who won a 200m breastroke bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, follows Vladimir Morozov and Nikita Lobintsev in making appeals against sanctions imposed by the International Olympic Committee over Russia’s state-organised doping.
They are among seven Russian swimmers banned from Rio by FINA after an order by the IOC to exclude any Russian competitors implicated in an independent investigation into Russia’s doping scandals.
