FIVE-WICKET HAUL FOR CHASE
He made his debut as a batsman who could bowl a bit. In only the second Test of his career, Roston Chase picked up his first five-wicket haul, including the prized scalp of Virat Kohli and back-to-back wickets. This was the first time since 1976 that a West Indian spinner had got five wickets in an innings against India.
CONSISTENT AJINKYA
Ajinkya Rahane has more or less owned the No.5 position in the India line-up now. With this innings, Rahane has scored seven centuries in the last eight series apart from 96 (against South Africa) and 98 against Bangladesh last year. However in terms of strike rate (45.56), this was Rahane’s slowest century ever. His quickest was 85.96 during the 147 he had hit against Australia in Melbourne in 2014.
EARLY JOLTS
After weather finally relented on Day 4, Ishant Sharma struck early, beating Rajendra Chandrika with a delivery which rose from a good length spot. The opener was late trying to shoulder arms and deflected ball off his elbow on to the stumps. Another rain break later, Mohammed Shami hit Darren Bravo on his forearm as he awkwardly ducked into a bouncer. There were some cracks on the Sabina Park pitch, adding to the batsmen’s uncertainty.
