GABALA (AZERBAIJAN): Young Indian shooter Subhankar Pramanick clinched the gold medal in 50-metre rifle prone event at the ISSF Junior World Cup for pistol, rifle and shotgun here on Sunday.

The Indian shot 205.5 overall to finish top of the podium.

Czech Republic’s Filip Nepejchal (205.2) followed in second position, while Romania’s Dragomir Iordache (185.1) was placed third at the end of the finals. A total of 279 junior athletes, representing 27 countries, are battling it out in 18 events.

INDIA BEAT CHINESE TAIPEI TO TAKE 7TH SPOT

TEHRAN: The Indian men’s basketball team upstaged Chinese Taipei 80-68 in a classification match to finish seventh in the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016, here on Sunday.

Chinese Taipei took the early initiative and surged ahead 22-15 in the first quarter. The Indians, however, came back strongly and in the second quarter took a slender one point lead at 33-32. The third quarter was a neck and neck fight which the Indians won by just one point.

SHUTTLER SOURABH LOSES IN BELGIAN FINAL

LEUVEN: Indian shuttler Sourabh Varma fell at the final hurdle as he lost to Lucas Corvee of France in straight sets in the summit clash of the Belgian International tournament. Unseeded Sourabh lost 19-21 19-21 in a 43-minute contest against his fifth seeded rival from France. Sourabh blew away an 11-4 lead to lose the first set. Corvee played a catch-up game and Varma allowed him to level the scores at 17-17 before Corvee took the first set 21-19.

DELHI DYNAMOS FC ADD BADJI, LALRUATTHARA

NEW DELHI: Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos FC on Sunday announced the signing of Senegalese striker Badara Badji and young Indian defender Lalruatthara to their squad for the upcoming season.
