The Indian duo were outplayed 3-6, 0-6 by Chris Haggard of South Africa and Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in the match that lasted just 49 minutes.

The unseeded African-Taipei pair did not give the Indians any chance to come back as they blanked their fancied opponents in the second set by breaking them thrice.

The Indian challenge had ended in the singles event as well with Bopanna retiring midway through his first round match against seventh seed Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Wednesday.

Bopanna, who entered the main draw after playing the qualifiers, was trailing 3-6, 0-1 when he called it quits from the ATP event.
