Sania Mirza's campaign at the Dubai Tennis Championships here ended as she and her partner Francesca Schiavone of Italy were shown the door in doubles quarterfinals of the $1,500,000 event by top seed Cara Black and Liezel Huber.
The Sania-Schiavone duo fought hard against the top seed Zimbabwean-American pair only to go down in a marathon match tiebreaker 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-12 late Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old Hyderabadi had a bad day at the office Wednesday as earlier in the day she lost in the singles second round to fourth seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, but not without a fight. She lost the match in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.
