Dobbie has been deluged with calls from as far as the United States, Australia and South Africa and been sent hundreds of e-mails after a message he sent to a woman he met at a friend's party was circulated widely on the internet, reports the Scotsman.
In the message, Dobbie invites Kate Winsall to meet him for coffee at the Tate Modern in London, and apologises for his drunkenness at the party.
Then he decides to "throw caution to the wind" and "listen to my heart" as he launches into poetic reverie.
In an onslaught of flattery, he writes that her smile is the "freshest of my special memories" and how she made "time stand still".
"If you are half as intelligent and aware as I believe you to be, I am sure that you will find what I have written in the very least sweet," Dobbie adds.
But Ms Winsall reacted simply by passing the e-mail on to her sister Jane with the simple message: "I met this man on Saturday."
Jane took that as her cue to pass the e-mail on to a group of friends, who circulated it to a much wider audience.
