The Indian challenge in the singles ended as qualifier Rohan Bopanna's dream run was halted by fifth seeded Gilles Muller, who scored a fluent 6-3 6-4 win to progress to the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open ATP Tennis championship in Chennai on Thursday night.

Playing his first match at the Centre Court after his victories in the qualifiers and the first round, the Indian expectedly found the going tough against an opponent who has beaten top players, including World No.2 Rafel Nadal and Andy Roddick last season, besides reaching the third round of the ATP Masters Series in Indian Wells and Los Angeles final, where he lost to Roger Federer and Andre Agassi respectively.
