Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated tennis star Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis on winning the US Open women's doubles title.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated tennis star Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis on winning the US Open women's doubles title.
"Congratulations @MirzaSania & @mhingis on the phenomenal victory at the @usopen. Your accomplishments make us proud," the Prime Minister tweeted.
Sania, in her response to the tweet said, "Thank you Sir for your wishes."
Sania won the with her Swiss partner Hingis on Sunday as the top-seeded Indo-Swiss team outplayed the fourth seed team of Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3 6-3 in the final.
During the post-match trophy ceremony, Sania had said: "It has been a great year for us. To win Wimbledon was a great year. Then to come back and back it up to win the US Open, we feel like we're a really solid team. And we came through again today."
Mirza now has five Grand Slam titles, two in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles. She won the Australian Open in 2009 and the French Open in 2012, with Mahesh Bhupathi. She also won the mixed doubles at last year's US Open, with Brazil's Bruno Soares.
