The Swachh Bharat Mission was allotted Rs 9,638 crore in the revised estimate in FY2019-20. Presenting India’s first general budget in the new decade, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman allotted Rs 12,294 crore for the programme, a hike of 27.5%.

Rail passenger comfort in mind, govt makes 200% hike in allocation for amenities

Indication of the sharp rise was given in the interim Budget where the allocation for passenger amenities jumped by 50 per cent from the amount allocated in 2018-2019.
