Asansol’s Trinamool mayor seeks EC nod for Ram Navami donation; BJP objects

Incidentally, Ram Navami celebration became a controversial issue in Bengal after the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliates organised processions on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti in the state in 2017.

Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Left bastion of West Bengal’s Asansol is held by BJP

This time, the ruling party in the state has nominated actor-turned-politician Moon Moon Sen to contest from the Asansol seat, located in the second largest city of the same name after Kolkata. It was once dominated by the Communist Party of India(Marxist).

Trade union protesters block trains, vehicles amid sporadic violence in Bengal during nationwide strike

Agitators blocked railway tracks and road traffic at different places in West Bengal on Tuesday morning as a two-day Left-sponsored shutdown began in the state even as the Mamata Banerjee government made elaborate arrangements to thwart the strike.

Bengal govt officials to check if TV shows upset communal harmony
