Bhagyashree was born in Sangli, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan. She made her film debut with Maine Pyaar Kiya alongside Salman Khan in 1989 for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She made her television debut with Kachchi Dhoop. She has starred in numerous movies like Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Tyagi, Shotru Dhongsho and many more. She is married to Himalaya Dasani. She even appeared in television series CID and Kabhie Kabhie. She is the brand ambassador of the Bhagyashree scheme which looks after girl child from below poverty line
