CR imports shockproof shoes from Malaysia for staff to handle high-powered cables

Soon, Vande Bharat to operate on Mumbai-Jalna route
Central Railway (CR) has proposed a new Vande Bharat train to run between Mumbai and Jalna, covering a distance of 434 km. The train is expected to operate six days a week, but the timetable may affect the schedules of 19 other trains. No official decision has been made yet, but the proposed train is likely to start operating in January. The Vande Bharat train will provide improved connectivity between Mumbai and Jalna, and track testing is currently underway.

CR lab in Wadi Bunder to repair, maintain Vande Bharat trains
The Central Railway in Mumbai is setting up an electronics laboratory at Wadi Bundar to repair and maintain electronic components inside Vande Bharat coaches, which is expected to save the railway ₹70-75 lakh per year. The lab will repair emergency battery chargers, regulated battery chargers and other electronic equipment, as well as ensure the functionality of microprocessors, power cars, and water level indicator systems in train coaches.

CR introduces equipment to warn motormen of red signals
The Central Railway in Mumbai has installed a Signal Location Announcement System (SILAS) in a local train to prevent trains passing red signals. SILAS will announce the presence of upcoming signal poles displaying red to the motormen, helping to prevent accidents. The equipment will be installed in 10 more trains in the coming days. This decision came after a recent incident where a train jumped a red signal. SILAS alerts the motormen when the train is 350 metres and then 250 metres away from the upcoming signal pole.

Installation of high-speed rail line to be completed by October: CR
The leap in train speeds will save travel time and provide buffer space to add more services in the future, a CR official said, adding, “We are working on improving the condition of rail tracks and eliminating speed restrictions. Once this is complete by October end, it will benefit the train operations”

CR workers unearth 100-year-old tracks between Vidyavihar, Kurla
Usually when the railways find old, rusted pieces of metal on their property, they are sold as scrap to bidders through tenders. However, in this case, senior officials said they will retain a part of the unearthed GIPR tracks and it will be kept in the heritage gully at P D’mello side entrance of Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The rest of the old track is likely to be sold as scrap.
