Mother Teresa, apostle of love and peace, died at 87 in 1997. Her death was mourned by the nation and she was hailed as the embodiment of love and compassion. She dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor and founded the Missionaries of Charity. She was a Nobel laureate and brought succour to the sick and dying all over the world. Her passing was a great loss to India and the world. Pope John Paul II was deeply moved by her death.

Odisha sanctions 79 lakh to assist Missionaries of Charity

The amount has been sanctioned to support 13 institutions being run by the Kolkata-based organisation in the state, chief minister Naveen Patnaik's office (CMO) said.

Centre extends validity of FCRA registration of NGOs till March 31

The relief, however, will not be extended to organisations such as Missionaries of Charity (MoS), as their applications for a renewal of FCRA have already been rejected, the home ministry said.
