Nirmal Singh, 39, a farmer from Lubaniawali village in Muktsar is making handsome profits from pig farming. Starting with 10 animals in 2015, he now has 100 pigs. Like Nirmal, a large number of farmers are adopting pig farming due to high returns. Farmers rear pigs for breeding as well as meat production.

Told not to block traffic flow, 4 assault two cops in Ludhiana village

Four men allegedly assaulted two police personnel after they were told to not create hurdles in traffic movement in Daad village on Tuesday evening. While two of the men were arrested on the spot, their two accomplices managed to escape. Those arrested have been identified as Gurwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, residents of Thakkarwal village, while the accused who managed to escape are Teerath Singh and Amarjit Singh.

Youth murdered in Patiala: Four days on, accused still at large

Four days after a youth was allegedly murdered, the accused are still at large. The district police and CIA Patiala are groping in dark. Despite carrying out multiple raids at different locations, police have failed to arrest any of the accused. On January 29, Gurdeep Singh alias Deepak, of Gagarpur village, was shot at and two of his friends had received bullet injuries.

Haryana elections: Ambala Cantt records its lowest turnout

Ambala Cantonment registered the lowest turnout in its history with only 62% of the total 1.96 lakh voters turning up to exercise their right. The voter turnout in the Ambala City seat also fell sharply to 60.4% against the 2014’s 70% as the elections took place for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Monday.

Taxi driver found murdered at Pinjore village

Parvinder Singh Bittu, a 40-year-old taxi driver who reportedly picked up five passengers from the Kalka railway station for Baddi in Himachal Pradesh, was found murdered at Khedawali village in Pinjore on Wednesday in mysterious circumstances. His family learnt of the death when they visited a health centre in Kalka and were shown an unclaimed body, police said.
