Samagra Shiksha: Punjab proposes 3,000 crore action plan for school education

The Punjab government has submitted a ₹3,000-crore action plan to the Centre under the Samagra Shiksha program for quality education and infrastructure in schools. The plan includes initiatives for quality education, access and retention, and vocational education. The proposed budget for the next two financial years is ₹1,476 crore each, with an increase of 14% compared to the current year. The program is jointly funded by the central and state governments on a 60:40 sharing basis.

Governor exhorts universities to improve int’l rankings

Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel praised higher education institutions for incorporating sports, yoga, and co-curricular activities into their curricula to promote student welfare and development. She emphasized the importance of inculcating leadership skills in students through these activities. The governor made these remarks at the inaugural of Shiksha Manthan-2023, a two-day program attended by vice-chancellors of 32 state universities. The objective of the event is to raise awareness about accreditation, rankings, and the implementation of the National Education Policy.

Noting that four Uttar Pradesh universities NAAC had A++ accreditation, she said it was but time for Indian institutions to focus on improving international rankings.
