With the advent of the Pro Kabaddi League in 2014, the indigenous sport has witnessed a major transition – from one that was closely followed in rural areas to a topic that was discussed over dinner in metro cities.
Tamil Thalaivas, on the back of a demoralising defeat against arch-rivals Bengaluru Bulls on Sunday, started the match with a changed line-up as youngsters Ajith Kumar and Anand found a place in the starting seven.

It was a good day for Rahul Chaudhari though who scored his 700th raid point in Pro Kabaddi. Desai scored 17 points and made life difficult for the Titans’ defence throughout the match. Desai is also the leading raider of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 with 83 points so far. Telugu Titans extended their lead at the top of the table after beating Patna Pirates 35-31 in Pro Kabaddi League match on Friday. Vishal Bhardwaj and Abozar Mighani were two of the star performers for the Titans and combined to score 11 tackle points and kept Patna’s main men at bay in what was a thrilling encounter. It was Patna’s second defeat of the tournament after the opening day defeat to Tamil Thalaivas. Manjeet and Vijay together scored 16 raid points for Patna but it wasn’t enough. Two of the most high profile raiders will come face-to-face in this clash as raid machines Rahul Chaudhari and Maninder Singh will look to set the stadium alight with their performances. Rahul is just 16 raid points away from becoming the first player to reach 700 raid point mark in PKL. However, Rahul is yet to score a Super 10 in PKL 6, scoring 9 raid points each in his two games thus far. His record against Bengal has not been that great either as he has failed to score a Super 10 against them in all three games in the last edition of the league. UP Yoddha’s raiders found a bit tough to get going in the first half as they trailed 9-13 after 15 minutes. Rishank Devadiga had three points but didn’t get too much support from the likes of Shrikant Jadhav.
Telugu Titans registered second win on the trot as they beat UP Yoddha 34-29 in Pro Kabaddi league match on Saturday. It was a team effort by the Titans who had Rahul Chaudhari and Nilesh Salunke chipping in with raid points, while Abozar Mighani and Vishal Bhardwaj kept the UP Yoddha raiders quiet for most of the match. Prashanth Kumar Rai was the top scorer with 11 points for UP Yoddha but his effort went in vain.
It was an evenly matched contest in the first few minutes of the first half. Athul MS got Tamil Thalaivas going with a raid in the second minute. Nilesh Salunke opened Telugu Titans’ raid account with a successful one in the fourth minute.
