Are the stairs really spinning? Mind-blowing optical illusion video goes viral
The viral optical illusion video of ‘spinning stairs’ was re-shared on Twitter.
Optical illusion videos that play tricks on people’s minds and often leave them scratching their heads are always entertaining to watch. Just like this mind-blowing clip that shows a spiral staircase at San Siro stadium that is seemingly turning as people are descending it. In reality, however, it is not moving at all.
The video was originally posted last year on Reddit. However, it is again going viral after being re-shared by a Twitter user. “You might think that this staircase rotates. But, it's not! The movement of the people going down gives our brains the impression that the staircase turns in the opposite direction. This is located in San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy,” they wrote as they tweeted the video.
The video shows several people circling the structure while walking in the same distance and at similar speed. And, this is where the curious optical illusion is formed that makes it seem like the structure itself is rotating.

Since being posted, the video has gone viral. Till now, it has accumulated over two million views and the numbers are quickly increasing. Additionally, the share has received tons of likes and comments.
Here’s how Twitter users reacted:
“That’s dope!” wrote a Twitter user. “How long of a walk top to bottom?’ posted another. “It’s a neat effect… wonder if the designer anticipated it,” expressed a third.
