The man took to Twitter to share about his father's reaction to him receiving an award from then-president APJ Abdul Kalam.
Lucky are those people whose parents are always there to support their achievements, even the smallest ones. Sadly, however, there are also some for whom appreciation from their parents doesn’t come easy. One such story shared by Twitter user Ramanuj Mukherjee has left people emotional. He took to Twitter to post how his father reacted when he received an award from India’s former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
“I got the president's award for creative writing in 2004. While I was still in high school. I went to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi with my whole family as a state guest and received an award from President Abdul Kalam. I thought my father would be proud. I asked him what he thought of my achievement. He said: how would this help? Will your writing help you to get a job? Well, baba, my writing helped me to build a company that gives jobs to 380 people from all over the world. Writing saved my life & made me who I am,” he wrote as he posted the tweet. He concluded the post with an image that shows him receiving the reward from the former president.

“Well sometimes parents are less appreciative of our achievements. It might seem like they’re underestimating us but that’s ok, probably that’s their way of pushing us to have more clarity in our goals. Also, somewhere this compels us to prove ourselves in front of them,” wrote a Twitter user. “Loved what you wrote. Our parents question from their own understanding of life. I am glad you found the answer of your choice,” shared another. “That's very inspirational. Keep up the good work which you are doing,” expressed a third.
