Teacher weighing 158 kg allegedly stands on student to punish him, leaves kid ‘walking like an 80-year-old’
The student’s mother told the authorities that the teacher’s act left the kid seriously injured and in pain. Social media is outraged.
A teacher at a Minnesota school is accused of using a sixth grader as a “stepping stool” during a school safety drill, reported the Star Tribune. Citing the court documents, the outlet reported that Jason Rogers has confessed to standing on the student’s back.

The outlet reported that the kid’s mother told authorities that the teacher’s act left the student “walking around like an 80-year-old from the pain.” The educator is now facing criminal charges.

About the incident:
According to the criminal complaint, as reported by the outlet, the student was asked to lie on his stomach during a lockdown drill. During the drill, Rogers, weighing 350 pounds (approximately 158 kg), stepped on the kid’s back for about 10 seconds, following which the boy started crying.
In his defence, Rogers told a detective that he “didn’t feel the class was taking the drill seriously” as some students lay on the floor instead of sitting. He added that he “placed his foot onto the lower back” but removed it as the kid started to cry.
The teacher told the detective, “He might have stepped on [the student] with both feet,” but another student claimed he did stand with both feet.
Social media reacts:
An individual wrote, “Schools should be placing cameras in all classrooms that live stream everything with audio. It's 2025, and the technology to do so is very cheap. Unfortunately, the behaviour of teachers needs to be monitored.” Another posted, “Omg. These people really do hate our children.”

A third added, “Hopefully he was fired.” A fourth expressed, “Being entrusted with the wellbeing of children and betraying that trust is amongst the highest offenses.”
Who is Jason Rogers?
According to The Underwood website, Jason Rogers has been working at the school for ten years. Besides teaching, he is the co-head wrestling coach and a junior high football coach. He is married and has two daughters.
