Ashish Sharma wants to ride the digital wave, wouldn’t think twice before taking up a good show

Siya Ke Ram actor Ashish Sharma talks about the possibilities of exploring web series and why he doesn’t wish to do a romantic show.

Ashish Sharma is the latest TV star to be bitten by the ‘digital medium’ bug. Names such as Gaurav Chopra, Deepika Singh, Karan V Grover and Chhavi Mittal from the television industry have already chosen that path, and filmstars, too, are all for catering to a global audience through web series that don’t require an actor to invest as much time as for films or TV.

Ashish Sharma is known for his role of Ram in the TV show, Siya Ke Ram.

“I’d like to be part of this whole new wave. It’s very interesting because it’s easier for viewers to get exposed to global content. I think it is also very important because once the audience evolves, the quality of content will also evolve. I’m with this digital era and would not think twice before taking up a good show if it is offered to me,” says Ashish, who plays the titular role of Prithvi Vallabh in a TV show.

The actor, who has been part of shows such as Rangrasiya and Siya Ke Ram does not want to confine himself to any one genre. After romance and mythology, he’s open to something new now. “I don’t know if I want to take up an out-and-out romantic show unless it has something more to say than just the rosy romance,” says Ashish, who has a huge female following thanks to his romantic roles.

He adds that he doesn’t really choose projects according to the genre they fall into. “It’s not about comedy or romantic thrillers. I’m looking for great stories which can challenge me as an actor, and add something to my skills. Something that could make me think if I will I be able to do it. It is not important what I do, but will it make me think and wonder about the possibilities of growth, that is what matters to me.”
