The tenth season of the controversial reality show is set to premiere Sunday night with Bollywood star Salman Khan as the host.
The promos give us a sneak peek inside the Bigg Boss house that has been designed by director Oomung Kumar and his wife Vanita.
Commenting on the house, co-designer Omung Kumar said, “The Bigg Boss house, this year, has an ethereal look. The design of the Bigg Boss house, has been themed around a modern Indian palace. There is an element of Indian mystique to the décor with a lot of lanterns and earthy tones to bring a homely appeal to the set. And, the house is more colorful and vibrant this time with lots of paintings. There are many conspicuous changes in the Bigg Boss house. The orientation of the living room and the bedroom have been interchanged, with a special seven-sleeper bed space being created for select contestants. We’re also adding a touch of luxury to the Bigg Boss house with the introduction of a jacuzzi corner in the bathroom. The design elements have been incorporated to create a balanced experience for both celebrity and common man contestants.”
He went on to add, “The most prominent addition to the Bigg Boss house, however, is the jail. Painted to depict a filthy appearance, the jail will be a dungeon of sorts for contestants who break the rules. There is a special Indian-style bathroom installed for the qaidis, and an earthen pot along with aluminium plates and mugs to make the entire experience more real.”
In a shift from it popular format, the show will focus on the common man this year, allowing non-celebrities to contest the show along with known faces. Bigg Boss is on the lines of the British television show Big Brother. The show’s format keeps participants locked inside a house for three months with no access to the outside world.
Salman returns as the host for the seventh season in a row with Bigg Boss 10. “This is my seventh season as host of Bigg Boss. Each season is exceptional in its own way. But with known faces, you know or at least think you know what to expect. Each time the show has surprises galore. But this time, there is a kahani mein twist. The presence of the common man promises a most uncommon season. So expect the unexpected,” Salman said in a statement.

A tentative list of commoners participating in the latest season of Bigg Boss is also out. Though little is known about these people, the names is what we can offer for now. Manoj Punjabi, Mandira Chauhan, Nitibha Kaul, Parmod Kumar, Lokesh Kumari, Firoz Khan, Nikhil Mehta, Manjo Kumar, Kajol Tyagi, Davinder Devgan, Navin Prakash, Ruchika Singh and Priyanka Jagga are the shortlisted candidates for Bigg Boss 10.
