Don't know if I should be happy or embarrased: Rishina Kandhari on whether she is lesbian

Ever since she portrayed the role of a homosexual woman on the TV show Yudh, she’s been flooded with proposals from women and queries on her actual orientation on social networking sites.

Getting proposals from people of the opposite sex is not unnatural for actors. For TV actor Rishina Kandhari, however, it's been a slew of proposals with a twist.

Ever since she portrayed the role of a homosexual woman on the TV show Yudh, she’s been flooded with proposals from women and queries on her actual orientation on social networking sites.

"People ask me if I am a lesbian in real life or not! They say I played the part of Kavita in Yudh so naturally that they got confused if I am actually lesbian. I get messages like, ‘You look so pretty, can we have your number?’ and ‘What’s your real relationship with Mona Wasu (her on-screen partner in Yudh), do you guys spend quality time together?’ and ‘How is it having an affair with a girl?’, ‘Have you ever been with another woman before meeting Mona?’," says Kandhari, adding that few questions are quite off, leaving her wondering if she should be embarrassed or happy about having played her role so convincingly that people are actually thinking so deep!

"I want tell them I’m not a lesbian in reality, I hang out with my girls more than boys though. But trust me, it doesn't make me a lesbian! I have nothing against homosexuality but the fact is I am not one," she says.

Kandhari adds, "I think lesbian relationships are over-hyped in our country. But with time, we are becoming more and more advanced and aware of such relations, which is great."
