Enjoying the writers’ throne
DB Weiss and David Benioff talk about scripting their latest TV seriestv Updated: Jun 14, 2012 01:24 IST
This writer duo surely has a lot to boast about. While David Benioff can be credited for penning the screenplays of films like Troy (2004) and The Kite Runner (2007), DB Weiss is currently busy scripting the prequel of I Am Legend (2007).
Adding to their impressive run, the two have now bagged accolades for being the co-writers of Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones.
The show is based on author George RR Martin’s series of novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, and the ongoing season two of the adaptation has already accumulated a gross audience of 8.3 million viewers. “This time, last year, I was more nervous because I didn’t know how people were going to react,” says Benioff.
“The fact that fans responded really positively was very gratifying for both of us,” says Weiss. While Benioff adds that he is already “very tired” when it comes to the idea of continuing with more seasons, Weiss is adamant to “take this through to the ending.”
