Head over heels
For Perizaad Zorabian life has never been better. She has had a baby and is finding motherhood as good as it’s made out to be. “I have balanced my personal and professional life,” says the Jogger’s Park actress. No points for guessing that her private life and newborn daughter Rana are top priority right now.
Which is not to say that she’s not busy with movie offers. “I’m reading scripts, but I’m waiting for something worthwhile,” she says. Meanwhile she’s working on the second season of the TV show Limited Edition, produced by Miditech Private Ltd. “I thoroughly enjoyed the first season and now I’ve agreed to do the second season as well,” confirms Perizaad.
And since shooting for it takes only four days a month — “it’s comfortable” — it won’t even affect her daily schedule. Though the big screen remains her first choice, that will have to wait till her daughter’s a little older. “Working for the small screen is quite indulgent and good fun but at the right time I will definitely shift back to big screen.”
Back to the small screen, Limited Edition is a luxury show, she says, “About all the good things in life.” Not surprisingly, Perizaad “indulged” in a bit of extravagance in the first season. Season Two sees Perizaad travelling and living the royal life — her “indulgences” are likely to be very interesting. Despite the cool factor of her stint on TV, the medium doesn’t really do much for her.
“I don’t relate to the kind of acting the television industry offers because it requires long term commitment,” says the actress. But her commitment issues don’t mean she can’t recognise what a powerful medium it is and how many opportunities it offers. “So whenever I get a role I like and it’s convenient I’ll definitely do it.”
Apart from caring for her daughter and her assignments, Perizaad is also working hard to get into shape. “I’m exercising to shed the extra kilos that accumulated after my pregnancy. I’m eating the right food and enjoying being disciplined in my life for the first time. Thank god for the show,” she exclaims, “otherwise, I’d have bloated sitting at home.”
