Over the next few weeks, Pratyusha Bannerjee’s on-screen life is set to go through a major twist. For a change, her character Anandi romances Shivraj, played by actor Siddharth Shukla, in the Colors daily Balika Vadhu. “Finally I’ll get to portray some romance. Shivraj and Anandi will tie the knot too,” says Pratyusha.

Off-screen, she is dating businessman Makrand Malhotra. Recently, reports claimed that the two had parted ways. Bring this up and she says, “Really? I don’t pay heed to gossip. We’re dating, but it’s all at a nascent stage. We’re still young. Marriage is too far-fetched an idea.”

According to the actor, any guy who falls in love with her, will dump her in no time. “I work like a maniac. I shoot for Balika Vadhu from 9 am to 9 pm. Then I have rehearsals for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. Where’s the time for that ‘someone’?” she says.

So why did she agree to participate in the show? “I enjoy dancing. I want people to know that there is more to me, although I’m not trying to break my on-screen image,” she says.

“I wanted my parents to watch the first episode (of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5) with me, but then I realised I’d get too conscious. So I’ve asked them to watch the opening act without me, we can watch the rest together.”
