Kapil Sharma is spreading awareness on yoga in Canada

Apparently, officials from the Indian government contacted Kapil, and urged him to be part of the initiative.

While everyone is looking forward to celebrate the first ever International Day of Yoga this Sunday (June 21), actor-comedian Kapil Sharma has left for Vancouver, Canada, as part of an Indian delegation, to spread awareness about yoga.

The importance of the discipline was emphasised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly, in September, last year. Apparently, officials from the Indian government contacted Kapil, and urged him to be part of the initiative.

“I am glad to be part of the International Day of Yoga. This initiative taken by Modiji will be celebrated all over the world. I feel it’s great to create awareness about yoga. The discipline originated in India, and now, is being utilised by people all over the world. It issomething to be proud of,” says Kapil.

While he is excited about the objective of his visit, the actor says that he used to practise yoga in the past, and it has helped him stay fit. “I stopped doing yoga in between because of my hectic schedule. But I will get back to it again,” says Kapil, who will apparently spend a couple of days in Canada.

The actor has completed shooting and dubbing for his Bollywood debut, which is directed by Abbas–Mustan, and is awaiting the film’s release. While rumours suggested that the relations between the director-duo and Kapil were going through a rough patch owing to the latter’s behaviour on the sets, Kapil rubbishes them, saying, “I was shocked to hear that. There is no problem between us. They called me to talk and clarify things. Some rumour-mongers created trouble.”
