Actor-director Saajid Khan speaks to Riya V Anandwala about his upcoming show Champion Chaalbaaz No 1.

Your new show appears to be on the same lines as MTV Bakra.
It is! The only difference is that Champion Chaalbaaz No. 1 is a contest. That I haven’t seen on television before.

Weren’t you apprehensive about sharing screen space with Cyrus Broacha?
I’m close to only two Parsis, Cyrus Broacha and Boman Iraani.

Really?
Don’t believe me?Ask my mum.. she’s more fond of Cyrus than me.

Now that you’ve turned director with Heyy Baby, do you tend to play director on the show too?
I’ve always been a director at heart.. it’s now that it’s no longer a fantasy. But when I’m on the show, I only do what
the director asks me to.

Any plans of working with sister Farah Khan?
Not for another year.. she’s really busy with her soon-to-be-born triplets.

You have a three-film contract with Sajid Nadiadwala.What will be your next film?
I’m working on one featuring Akshay Kumar.

Have you ever come across anyonewho takes offence to your remarks on TV?
( Laughs ) No one likes to hear the truth. But it doesn’t bother me. They probably hate me for being blunt.. but behind my back.. love me too.

So you’ve never offended anyone?
Nope! Once a close friend of mine, a director, asked me to watch his film and give him an honest opinion. I did. I told him it wouldn’t work even a day.. and that’s exactly what happened.We’re still friends.

Will you ever try your hand at anything else besides comedy?
For now, I want to make the audience laugh.
