No chalet this season
Amitabh Bachchan’s much-talked about make-shift home on the KBC sets to be unoccupiedtv Updated: Jul 30, 2011 17:07 IST
Actor Amitabh Bachchan’s game-reality show, Kaun Banega Crorepati’s fifth edition is ready to go on air on August 15 on Sony Entertainment.
The channel also aired the fourth edition last year.
Last we checked the actor was busy conducting trial shoots at Floor Number 16, Film City, Goregaon with fake contestants and audience.
The ‘desi’ adaptation of the hit format Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire? is likely to run into 60 episodes this year, which means the star-anchor will be shooting longer hours and more capsules this season.
However, unlike last year, he won’t be occupying the chalet specially built for him on the sets replete with amenities, supplies, comforts and luxuries.
Earlier this year, plans were to spruce up the space keeping the actor’s requirements in mind, but this time the actor will only be using his personal vanity van during intervals between shoots.
Bachchan is likely to shoot two episodes a day with quiz whiz Siddhartha Basu’s production units from his company, Big Synergy.
Enquiries with the programming teams from the broadcaster and the production house revealed that the actor, even during the previous season, usually preferred spending time in his vanity van instead of the chalet, which was a make-shift home, built to ensure he’s comfortable and rested periodically between shoots that mostly extended beyond 12 hours.
The channel spokesperson chose to remain tight-lipped.
An official on condition of anonymity however pointed out that the producer would decide what to do with the chalet.
When asked, Siddhartha, who at the time of going to press was on the sets with the star-host, admits Bachchan’s makeshift home won’t be occupied this season and as a result hasn’t been renovated this year.
However, he refrained from commenting on whether the chalet will be dismantled or kept for another season.
