There have been many scandals and controversies in Bollywood, but TV has witnessed fewer of them. The most recent one has been the MMS clip featuring Mona Singh that went viral last week. It shocked not only the actor but the entire industry. However, Mona is putting up a brave front with the support of her family and friends.

When a scandal breaks out, everyone’s attention is drawn to it. But the good thing about public memory is that it’s short. People forget controversies as quicky as they react to them.

Ronit Roy’s accident in 2011 was another instance that shocked the industry. Right after the news broke, media was abuzz with rumours and reports that said he was drunk and fled from the hospital after admitting three members of a family injured in the incident. But in reality, Ronit had surrendered to the cops and got bail. Later, it was revealed that he wasn’t drunk at the time of the accident.

Another incident, the sting operation on Aman Verma by a TV channel in 2005, stirred up a hornet’s nest. The actor was caught on camera supposedly asking for favours in lieu of helping an aspiring actress. When the news channel aired the story, it received a range of reactions from the public and industry folks. Though Aman did received support from some quarters, his career suffered a setback. Four years later, the actor finally revealed his side of the story on national TV on a reality show, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. He blamed the news channel for editing and showing only some portions of the incident. And though people forget, sting videos and MMS clips always lurk on the Internet, like a bad memory that never fully fades away.
