In its third edition, genders have reversed. A rugged host has made way for a ravishing anchor, comely partners for macho mentors. Even the sex of the 13 participants have changed… They’re more, well, manly.



The promos promised much. The opener was a bit of a dampener. Unbelievable, but one actually missed Akshay Kumar and his cracked up laugh. Why didn’t they can it?



Even his haseenas (beauties), who were definitely more eye-catching than this some-flab-some-fit line-up. One also craved the nail-biting anxiety that came with every stunt in the two previous seasons. That’s understandable! It will take atleast a couple of weeks for us to think of Priyanka Chopra as a khiladi. That’s the advantage Akshay had over her, after half-a-dozen or more Khiladi films, he was already one when he took on the desi Fear Factor. Anybody who took over from him would have fallen short!

But PC will need to glam up a little more on the wardrobe front and stop shivering when she watches reaction-based action involving beetles, cockroaches, worms and pythons from the sidelines. She has to be fear-less, not fear-full, right?



But she should get some brownie points for her sincerity. PC is trying, and trying hard, to be one of the boys! Taaliyan! From the boys, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Rahul Bose, Dino Morea and Ritwick Bhattacharya prove that they were a good pick. Manjot Singh is a baby and should have steered clear of the dangers ahead. Milind Soman’s first-episode exit was a shocker, given that he’s a national level swimmer. Funny man Cyrus Brocha hasn’t given us much to chuckle about, apart from his girth. Fingers and toes crossed for bigger, better, meaner stunts. To be fair, Episode Two went a few notches up!
