Sonu Niigaam is back on Indian Idol. The playback singer who was judge in Seasons One and Two is a mentor in the fourth season.
Niigaam said that he couldn’t be a part of Season Three, in which Prashant Tamang emerged winner, because of prior commitments.
“This season, I hadn’t been invited till now,” he remarked candidly. Last week, the contestants had sung tracks dedicated to their musical idols.
Rajdeep crooned Sandese aate hain from Border (originally sung by Niigaam).. symbolic, considering Niigaam is back home on the Sony show.
Before his arrival on the sets, Niigaam met the contestants. He interacted with each one of them.
Mohit, who has been evicted from the show, was present too.. and burst into tears because he was so overwhelmed.
Niigaam advised Torsha to smile more often. But Prasenjit was extremely star-struck.
The singer stood talking with his arm around the contestant.. which thrilled Prasanjit so much, that he now refuses to part with the jacket he was wearing then. Why? Because it has “Sonu’s magic touch.”
