1. The truth turned out to be a bit too difficult to digest for Indian audiences. Sach Ka Saamna on Star Plus jolted viewers and even politicos who vehemently opposed the show. Suicides after watching the show were reported, too, but that did little to curb the show makers from airing it.

2. It was sex, lies and scandal on the sets of MTV Splitsvilla 2 as a host of contestants spilled the beans on what transpired when the cameras stopped rolling. Dirt was flung at show makers as well as VJ Nikhil Chinappa, but they were quick to label it as a case of sour grapes.

3. Colors show Bigg Boss had to deal with speculation of the show being rigged when contestant Kamaal Rashid Khan claimed his initial contract involved him getting two entries into the show. Rohit Verma’s antics on the show too caused a furor; with item girl Sambhavana Seth saying his behaviour would harm the image of homosexuals.

4. The reality show MTV Roadies hit a roadblock when Roadies 6 contestant Palak claimed she was provoked to act aggressively on the show, leading to speculation whether the show was fixed. Another contestant, Tamanna, grabbed headlines when a sex MMS allegedly involving her came to light.

5. It was labeled one of the biggest hoaxes of the year. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, which showed Rakhi Sawant’s quest for a husband, culminated in not a wedding, but a mere ceremony. Months later, Sawant gave interviews on how she couldn’t get along with her beau any longer.

6. Raghu Ram, the man known as the face of MTV Roadies, broke ties with the channel, while his brother, Rajiv Laxman, hosted The Player, with the rival Channel [V].

7. Dadagiri, on UTV Bindass came under fire for promoting ragging at a time when the drive against ragging was on in full force.

8. An early marriage was the least of Balika Vadhu’s worries. The show came under attack for encouraging child marriage, and, in July, JD(U) MP Sharad Yadav even demanded that the show be banned.

9. The Capital also saw some drama when the auditions of Sony’s Dance Premier League were canceled in September. Angry aspirants had to be controlled by the police. The latest season of Roadies, too, saw online auditions replacing the usual format, thanks to Delhiites raising hell during last year’s auditions.

10. A cold shower wasn’t enough to curb the worries of the Sony show Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, which was targeted for showing its contestants bathing under a waterfall.
