The very best #TBT: Heard Pokemon theme song’s jazz version yet?

Vocalist Sara Niemietz, a jazz trio, and Scott Bradlee make up the group of musicians who revisited the theme song.

A group of music makers have came up with a fantastic video where they have given the Pokemon theme song a jazz rendition.

Vocalist Sara Niemietz, a jazz trio, and Scott Bradlee make up the group of musicians who revisited the theme song. This, however, is not their only piece of art. Bradlee has covered songs like the Ducktales and Powerpuff Girls theme songs also. His other channel Postmodern Jukebox is well known for their beautiful covers of pop music in jazz, blues, reggae and other vintage styles.

Sara begins the song with some cooing and then getting started with ‘I will be the very best...’, the lyrics we are all so familiar with. The general tune of the song is still very much original, something you can still sing along. Makes you wonder how amazingly they managed to fit a cartoon’s theme in a jazz song. And make sure you don’t miss her sing Pikachu’s line towards the end!

Pokemon began airing first in Japan in 1997 and was an instant hit. Admit it or not, it eats Dragonball Z for breakfast. It was the most amazing cartoon show ever and set the bar so high for other animes that the current generation has to all but make do with the trash they call cartoon shows.
