TV’s RK-Madhubala ready to get hitched

The TV show Madhubala on Colors was touted as the first-ever show set against the backdrop of the film industry and would showcase the glitz and glamour that is associated with it. After two months, the show seems to be turning into a regular soap opera with the lead pair Vivian D’Sena and Madhubala Drasti Dhami set to get married next week.

The TV show Madhubala on Colors was touted as the first-ever show set against the backdrop of the film industry and would showcase the glitz and glamour that is associated with it. Explaining why the grandeur seems to be missing from the show, Prashant Bhatt, fiction head, Colors, says, “Against her wishes, Madhubala now becomes an actor. RK will force Madhubala to act in a film and that will affect her personal relationships and break her spirit. He wants to control her every move and destroy her life. We were building the preface until now.”

The makers didn’t want to clutter the show with numerous characters and focussed on establishing Madhubala’s middle-class background so far. Next week onwards, they will delve into RK’s Bollywood world. Prashant adds, “That’s where the underbelly of the film industry will be shown. We will show Madhubala’s journey from a normal girl to a popular heroine. As for the grand sets, the RK-Madhubala wedding will give people what they are expecting. Also, the big sets will be seen once Madhubala becomes an actor.”

Has this twist been brought into the show to raise the TRPs? Prashant replies, “The audiences today are smart and keep guessing the next twist in the show. We want to surprise them with this latest development. And of course, we are in the business of entertainment and surprises get people talking about the show, which is our goal.”
