Laagi Tujhse Lagan
Time: 9.30 pm,
Monday to Friday
Cast: Chinmayee Sumeet and many more

The show has been promoted as the story of an utterly ugly face that goes through great amount of humiliation until she finds that one man who respects and loves her, despite odds. But the show belongs to Chinmayee Sumeet who plays Babi, the doting mother of Nakusha, the ugly and the unwanted girl.
It’s a relief that no one calls her ammaji or maajisa of the chawl where she lives. She’s as real as it gets, starting with her look and attitude. Ditto the man who plays her husband (Kali Prasad). He’s the perfect daaru-peeke dhut unemployed husband.

The chawl could have looked been made to look better. It clearly comes across as Mukesh Mills in Colaba. The concept has been tackled before. The treatment here is different, so hopes are high. The story-telling is fast-paced. The characters have been written well. Thankfully, there aren’t those redundant close-ups. Worth a tune-in!

Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam
Time: 9 pm,
Monday to Friday
Cast: Yami Gautam, Gaurav Khanna and others who like young parents

The show clicks from the opening montage. Pal pal dil ke paas, sung by Kishore Kumar that plays in the background, gives away the feel of romance at the outset. It has a ‘filmy’ approach to the story. Abeer Bajpai (Gaurav Khanna) is the lalla of the house, loved, pampered and spoilt. The father, a lawyer, is stern but dotes on his wife and kids. The wife is the ‘panditayin’ who does Tulsi puja every morning and deals with everyone from the servants to the dhoban on her own. Enter Leher (Yami Gautam, pretty). Abeer falls for her (he’d be blind if he didn’t). She belongs to a different caste. Word spreads.

The plot and dialogue is written well. The actors have been chosen carefully. The show is slow but that’s with all family dramas. It borrows from the Kamal Haasan-Rati Agnihotri film, Ek Duje Ke Liye, but then, you can still tune-in.
