Union health minister Harsh Vardhan laid out the 'rough target' drawn up by the government to procure and utilise a vaccine for Covid-19. As the pandemic continues to rage across the world, Vardhan said that the plan is to administer 40-50 crore vaccine doses on 20-25 crore people by July 2021. He was answering people's questions on his weekly 'Sunday Samvaad' programme. Vardhan said that his ministry, along with the state governments, is finalising a list of priority groups who will be among the first to get the vaccine. These would include doctors, nurses, paramedics, sanitation staff and ASHA workers, among others. Multiple vaccine candidates are being tested in India and abroad. However, Russia is the only country to have approved a vaccine so far. Watch the full video for more.
