EU Gangs Up Against Own Member? Petition To Strip Hungary Of This Key Power Over Ukraine Aid

120 EU Parliament members have signed a petition demanding to strip Hungary of its voting rights to pave way for a crucial aid package for Ukraine. Hungary in December 2023 had blocked a key aid package for Kyiv to continue its fightback against Russia. Finnish EU MP Petri Sarvamaa, who launched the petition, accused Hungary of holding the western bloc hostage over aid to Ukraine, and said stripping PM Viktor Orban of his voting rights is the only way to secure aid for Kyiv.
