With the Sri Lanka versus Bangladesh match being cancelled due to rain, the latter's coach wondered why the organisers hadn't decided to keep 'reserve days', considering the unpredictable rains in England. Steve Rhodes said that if a man could be sent to the moon, then why couldn't the World Cup have reserve days so that even fans who've paid to watch cricket, don't return disappointed. Rain played spoilsport in Bristol, with the match being cancelled without even a single ball being bowled. Both the teams were awarded one point each.
