Amid a growing controversy over Team India possibly sporting an orange jersey in a World Cup match, bowling coach Bharat Arun revealed the team's official stand. He said that the side was unaware, and had given no thought, to the colour of jersey that they would be wearing in the match against England. Reports had suggested that since India and England both have blue jerseys, the former would wear their alternate uniform. After sustained questioning by the press, Arun said that India 'bleeds blue', and blue would be the predominant colour. Earlier, a Congress legislator had accused the National Democratic Alliance government of 'saffronising' the sport, citing the orange jerseys.
