In New Year's speech, Macron invokes 'defence debate' - 2nd NATO ally to dump Kyiv for own security?

French President Emmanuel Macron said European leaders meeting in Paris on January 6 will make firm commitments to protect Ukraine following any future peace deal with Russia. Speaking in his New Year’s Eve address, Macron said the gathering of the “Coalition of the Willing,” led by France and Britain and comprising more than 30 nations, aims to ensure a just and lasting peace in Europe. The meeting follows mid-December talks in Berlin, where leaders from France, Germany and the UK signaled strong alignment with the United States on Ukraine’s security and post-war guarantees.
