Budget 2019 | Petrol and diesel cess increased by Re 1 per litre

In her maiden Budget 2019 speech, Nirmala Sitharaman proposed an additional excise duty and road and infrastructure cess of one rupee on every litre of petrol and diesel sold in the country. “Crude prices have softened from their highs. This gives me a room to review excise duty and cess on petrol and diesel. I propose to increase Special Additional Excise duty and Road and Infrastructure Cess each by one rupee a litre on petrol and diesel,” she said.
