A boat, carrying 71 people, including crew, capsized in the Godavari river, near Devipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Over 10 people were killed while many were feared missing. Two National Disaster Response Force teams were rushed to the spot. Each team consisted of 30 members. Navy helicopters were also pressed into service to aid the rescue operations. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed local MLAs and ministers to supervise the operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the family members of the victims.
