Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passes away; tributes pour in
Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away at the age of 74 in a Chennai hospital. The singer had been admitted to the hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19. Om 24th September, he was put on 'maximal life support system' after his health started deteriorating further. SP Balasubrahmanyam has sung in movies across 16 languages including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telegu, Kannada and has over 40,000 songs to his credit. He has also won national film awards for best male playback singer and was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2011. He also played significant roles in many films including Keladi Kanmani, Thiruda Thiruda and others. The singer is survived by his wife Savitri Balasubrahmanyam and his children SP Charan and Pallavi Balasubrahmanyam. On August 5, the musician had confirmed testing positive for COVID-19 with 'mild' symptoms through a video message posted on his official Facebook page.
