The Indian Air Force chief commented on the creation of the post of Chief of Defence Staff. Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria called the move a 'big' and 'bold' step. He also said that onus was now on the three services - Army, Air Force and Navy - to ensure the success of the move. Earlier in the day, former Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, took charge as India's first Chief of Defence Staff. He will act as principal military advisor to the government and also work to enhance coordination between the three services. He will not exercise military command.
