Paramilitary jawans form shield to protect Amarnath yatris from stones

Soldiers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police protected pilgrims from shooting stones in Jammu and Kashmir's Baltal. Jawans of the paramilitary force formed a shield to stop falling stones from a glacier as pilgrims crossed a mountainous path. The Amarnath Yatra takes place amid extremely heavy security to prevent untoward incidents in a state infested with terrorists. More than eight thousand people visited the Amarnath cave on the first day of the pilgrimage on July 1.
