VK Saraswat, a member of the prestigious NITI Aayog, sparked a controversy with his comments on Jammu and Kashmir. During an interaction in Gujarat's Gandhinagar, Saraswat said that suspending internet in the erstwhile state was necessary in light of revocation of its special status. He went on to say that the people of the Union Territory only use internet to watch 'dirty films'. After outrage, he claimed that he had been misquoted and that he didn't want the people of Jammu and Kashmir to feel that he was against their right to internet access.
