The Union Cabinet gave its assent to the export of the indigenous Akash missile system on December 30. The Akash surface-to-air missile has a range of 25 km. The Cabinet also decided to create a committee for faster approvals. Commenting on the development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India's defence manufacturing capability was growing under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' push.
